Orange Colour Corrector Alternative – Collection Lasting Colour Mango Crush

I’ve mentioned before in a prior blog post that I have discoloration around my mouth and under my eyes. Those areas are a darker Brown than the rest of my face. The way I hide this is by colour correcting using an orange corrector. My go to corrector is LA Girl Pro Conceal Orange Corrector, however recently it ran out and I only realised on a day I had to go out. I wanted to find an alternative I could use where I could buy it locally on my high street so headed for Superdrug. I’ve heard of people using lipstick so opted to look for a deep orange lipstick. The reason I didn’t look for a Colour Corrector is because the ones I’ve seen in Boots and Superdrug tend to be too light orange for my skin tone. Luckily I found a really good deep Orange Lipstick from Collection for only £2.99 in shade 3 Mango Crush.

Salon Science Hydrasorb Intensive Masque AquaCacteen Review

I am prone to getting an itchy scalp at times so I usually like trying hair masks to soothe it. I saw this mask and found it interesting since you use it inbetween shampoo and conditioner, whereas usually I find you’re meant to apply a mask pre wash or after conditioning. I have not heard of this brand prior to this purchase so I just bought the mask, but the range comes with a Shampoo and Conditioner too.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup

Estee Lauder is a brand which is known for catering to all skin tones. The Double Wear Foundation range for example has over 30 shades ranging from cool, warm to neutral so there is so much to choose from. I felt unsure about the shade to commit to so fortunately Estee Lauder are happy to provide a sample. They used a device that took three photographs of my face to decide on my shade. I was matched to Bronze 5W1 but they did not have it in stock since its a newer shade so they recommended that I tried Henna 4W3.

Kiko Infinity Eyeshadows With Swatches + An Amazing Affordable Must Buy Eye Primer

I’ve written posts about Kiko products before as I just love this brand so much. They have such a variety of products at such great prices. Today I am writing about 3 products I purchased recently and I’ll start off with the 2 from Kiko which are from its Infinity Eyeshadow range. The eyeshadow colours I picked were shades 262 Mat Green and shade 229 Metalic Golden Camelia.

NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks + My Little Trick To Help Lipstick Stay On Longer

NYX Cosmetics have a wonderful range of Lipsticks at amazing prices as they are all under £10. I love how affordable the brand is and also the array of colours you can choose from. I always prefer Matte Lipsticks, and the NYX Matte Lipstick range is priced at £6.50. Despite being matte, the lipstick formula does not dry lips out and are highly pigmented so does not require reapplication very often.

Naturally however, after eating and drinking lipstick starts to fade so I do a little trick to make my lipstick stay on longer. I have written a post before about Gosh Velvet Touch Prime n’Set Primer and Mattifying Setting Powder

My Top 5 Favourite Romantic Fragrances

With Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I would write a post on my favourite perfumes. I tend to stick with a perfume for long periods of time before changing to a new one, so not all the perfumes are new. The perfumes listed are just my long time favourites! I love softer floral scents so this list is ideal for those of you who prefer a subtle perfume rather than a perfume with a really strong intense scent.

Collection Eye Brow Kit

I’ve mentioned before my go to kit for eyebrows which can viewed here however, recently I completely ran out and needed to buy one immediately. I could not find the Beauty UK kit anywhere and could not wait to order it online so decided to try an alternative. Since I love the range of products from Collection I went for the Eye Brow Kit I saw on promotion in store.

They have two palettes, one for blondes and another for brunettes so I picked the brunette palette. Two significant plus points about this kit compared to my usual one is that it has a small mirror which is ideal when you are in a rush, the other is the amazing eye brow gel that is included. The eye brow gel applicator looks like a mascara brush and the gel is clear. The texture is not too thick so feels lightweight and does not move the powder product from eye brows. I use the darkest shade in the palette and the powder texture is smooth and looks like eye shadow but is far more longer lasting. The gel really helps keep the brow powder in place and I do not need to reapply again all day! The eye brow applicator comes with a flat end and an angled end. I personally like using my old applicator just because I’m used to it. The other colours are nice to use as eyeshadow when I want to create a neutral look or as part of a subtle smokey eye look. Just so you know the difference:

The palettes are currently on offer in both Superdrug and Boots for £2.99 (usually £3.99)

Kiehl’s Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak

Lately my hair has been especially dry, this is probably made worse by the cold windy weather so I felt like I needed some treatment to revive my hair back to health. I came across a hair mask from Kiehl’s called Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak which I bought while on holiday in New York but is thankfully available here in the UK aswell. The mask is a good size and contains lots of lovely things like Antioxidant Rich Sunflower, Apricot Oils and Vitamins B3, B5 and B6. It is also silicone and paraben free.

I do colour my hair occasionally so I feel like the shine has consequently reduced. This mask claims to help provide a boost of healthy shine and vibrancy and repair chemically processed hair. I brushed my hair to remove knots and tangles and applied the mask directly to my hair while it was dry. The texture was like a lightweight cream so felt really nice and was easy to apply as it was smooth, as oppose to sticky or oily like some masks tend to be. The smell was really refreshing and sweet which was because of the apricot oils I’m assuming since it has a fruity fragrance. The lady at the Kiehl’s counter told me the longer I leave it on the more effective it will be on my hair so I left it on for about 15/20 minutes.
It was really easy to rinse out and my hair was tangle free and smooth. After drying my hair I was so impressed with how much healthier my hair felt. It looked healthy and vibrant just as the product claimed. My hair has not looked this shiny in such a long time and I could really tell that this mask contained nourishing ingredients as my hair felt so refreshed and repaired from damage of colouring and styling.
The mask is priced at £27 but it really works so it’s genuinely worth the price. Also the tub is a good size so the product will last a long time especially since it only needs to be used once a week. So if your hair needs some tlc then this is the product to restore your hair back to health!

No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

I’ve written about my favourite Mascara from No7 before in another post. However, recently it was out of stock so I decided to try another mascara from the No7 range instead. I decided on the No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara priced at £12.95 which I purchased from Boots.

Even though I bought this mascara as a temporary one until my usual one (No7 Lash Impact Mascara) was back in stock, I think I have found a new favourite. What I love about this one is that it is very buildable so you can add many coats of the mascara and it still doesn’t clump. It is really light weight and I felt my lashes looked glossy which is because the mascara is enriched with nourishing Argan Oil. Sometimes mascara can weigh down lashes but with this Lovely Lashes Mascara my lashes stayed volumised and looked longer. This mascara is slightly cheaper than the other one I used from the No7 range but the quality is just as good, the only difference I found is the Lash Impact Mascara dries quicker than this one. It is really easy to remove with make up remover and kept my lashes looking volumised all day without flaking or smudging. I highly recommend giving this Mascara a try!

My 3 Favourite Purchases This Week- Perfect For This Season

No7 Gel-Look Shine Nail Colour- Deep Wine

1007661

This gorgeous nail polish is a stunning colour and it is perfect for this season as it’s deep and warm. The nail polish is long lasting and didn’t chip easily. The brush applicator is quite wide so it’s easy to apply on your nail with just one coat, however I found that the shine was enhanced with a second coat. I also loved that it dried quickly so is convenient when you’re in a hurry. I highly recommend this nail polish, particularly this shade! Available at Boots priced at £7.00

MUA Trio Eyeshadow Chocolate Box

These eye shadows really compliment warmer skin tones and they are nice and shimmery which is perfect for the festive season. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and are easy to blend. I like how the different shades all work well with each other and help enhance the look. The lightest shade can also be used as a highlight which is another plus point for this set. It comes with a little applicator but I prefer to use my own. These are all pretty colours and come with a very affordable price tag at £2.50 from Superdrug.

Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 hour lipstick Cherry My Cherie
34_cherry_my_cherie_open
Firstly I picked this lipstick because it Is Semi Matte. I find that glossy lipsticks don’t suit me and I don’t like the texture whereas completely matte tends to make my lips look to dry so this lipstick is a great balance of the two. It is enriched with Shea Butter so the texture leaves lips feeling moisturised and the matte finish leaves lips looking vibrant with out the over the top glossy shine. This shade is warm and beautiful and would suit a lot of skin tones and I felt it complimented my skin well. I did not have to reapply until after 6 hours so it lasted pretty long not exactly the 12 hours it claimed though but still it’s pretty impressive. This is a stunning colour and ideal for this season so it’s my current favourite lipstick! It is available at Boots for £7.99

Superdrug Style Expertise Anti Frizz Serum

In this cold and windy weather my hair gets especially frizzy! Therefore it is essential that I always have an anti frizz product on hand. This time I decide to try something new so I picked up the Superdrug Style Expertise Anti Frizz Serum.

8839322861598

It’s really affordable priced at just £2.99. The texture is a thick gel like consistency, so this means that a little will go a long way and it also has a nice refreshing scent which is another plus point. I applied a small sized amount onto my palms ( I pressed the serum dispensing pump just once) then while my hair was damp, I applied the product to the mid length to the ends of my hair. I wouldn’t add it to roots as the thickness of the serum may weight it down. I did however, apply a little to the side of my hair near my forehead where I tend to get a lot of baby hairs and flyaways. My hair remained shiny and smoother throughout the day and my hair smelt nice and fresh. This is a fantastic anti frizz product and will keep frizz prone hair sleek and tamed. I highly recommend it!

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil Review

I recently purchased the Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in shade Midnight Glam and wanted to share my thoughts on it.

88403517440308845865156638

My eyelids are quite small so sometimes regular eye shadow doesn’t show up very clearly, so I wanted to try an Eyeshadow pencil to see if it will be more noticeable on my eyes. This pencil stood out when I was shopping as it was very chunky so it was noticeable and I already love the Collection range. Midnight Glam is a charcoal black shade which contains lovely specks of silver glitter.

1446896079175

The texture is smooth and creamy so glides along eyelids easily. It is very blendable once applied and I add it to the ends of my lids for a smokey eye look, however it does dry quickly and once it dries its not possible to blend as much as it is a Waterproof pencil so you have to work quickly. I like the fact it’s waterproof because since I have oily skin, regular eyeshadow tends to fade or crease quickly on my eyelids whereas this eyeshadow pencil lasts long without creasing. This pencil is great for a glam evening look and as its waterproof it lasted all day, so you need a good make up remover! This pencil was really easy to use and there are so many different looks you can create since its blendable. It really made my eyes stand out and the glitter it contains is perfect for the festive season. I highly recommend the Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil. It’s very affordable as its priced at £3.19 and is available at Superdrug

Body Creams for Winter Weather Reviews

As the weather gets colder it is especially important to keep skin hydrated. Today I am going to write about 3 body creams I have tried recently. My skin is not extremely dry so I usually pick more light weight formulas. If you suffer from very dry skin, I would recommend E45 Cream for Dry Skin and Eczema, it has excellent reviews and is fragrance free and effective. If your skin is less sensitive and you would rather a fragranced cream I would recommend Body Shop Body Butters.

So my most recent purchase was from Marks and Spencers. It is called the Floral Collection Magnolia Body Cream priced at £4.00.
RC_07_T20_7735G_NC_SP14_EC_0
This is a very wonderful cream with a sweet and delicate floral scent. The cream blends in perfectly without feeling heavy on skin. Despite its light weight formula, my skin feels moisturised and the beautiful magnolia scent is ideal for night time use as it’s very gentle and relaxing. The Floral Collection also includes Rose and Lavender scented body creams and since Marks and Spencer currently have a 3 for 2 offer, I am definitely going to add to my collection!

The next product  I’m going to review is one I wouldn’t purchase again. It is Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Lotion priced at £4.49.
Dove_Purely_Pampering_Nourishing_Lotion_Deep_Care_Complex_with_Shea_Butter_and_Warm_Vanilla_250ml_FO_8711700946766.png.ulenscale.640x640
The pro point is I love the scent of the cream, it is very warm and sweet. However, once I applied the lotion on to my skin it felt really heavy and sticky. Even after a couple of hours the feeling remained the same so I had to apply talcum powder on top. This lotion definitely was not right for me but I do love the body washes from the Dove Purely Pampering Range which is scented the same as the cream.

My final review is about Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion priced at £7.25.
8913672372254
This is a great lotion. My skin felt soft and smooth throughout the day after using it. It is really lightly scented which is probably from the Oatmeal it contains. For something so moisturising, it feels very light and absorbs into skin quickly. My skin looks and feels healthier after using this and I highly recommend it.

Where to buy

LA Girl Pro Conceal Orange Correcter- Ideal for uneven skintone for Medium to Dark Skintones

A big issue I suffer from is uneven skin tone particularly around my mouth and under my eyes. Sometimes this causes me to overdo the foundation coverage to try and make everything match up and appear even, but instead makes my skin look cakey and still appear uneven. I heard about correcting red pigmentation with a green corrector and brown pigmentation using Orange so was on the hunt for a colour correcter in Orange. I searched online and found one from LA Girl. What set this apart from other correcters was that the shade of Orange looked deeper than the others so I thought it would suit me better.

615Z7yautPL._SY355_-1

When I opened it, it comes with a brush type applicator and you gently squeeze the tube for the product to come out. This is great as it prevents you from being to heavy handed and using too much. It is very pigmented so a little goes a long way and its a lightweight formula so is easy to blend. I used a primer underneath that I wrote about before from Maybelline and this worked well underneath the corrector.

Once blended, the area looks orangey/red as expected but when you layer foundation on top the coverage is perfect. Foundation blends over the correcter without feeling heavy and my skin looks so even now. It also means I use less foundation as I’m not over compensating for the fact that I need to even out the skin tone, since the corrector does this for me now.
This is a must buy for those with uneven skin tone. Since the Orange is deep I would recommend it to those with medium to dark skin. A more peach or light orange corrector would suit lighter skin better. If your skin tone is lighter I would suggest the NYX Dark Circle Concealer which comes in 4 different orange shades.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

Since I have oily skin, at times the pores on my cheeks become very noticeable despite foundation coverage. I heard about the Benefit Porefessional but being a bargain hunter I thought i would look for a cheaper alternative, just to see if something else with a smaller price tag would work before paying a higher price. I decided to purchase Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser which was considerably cheaper at £8 in comparison to Benefit Porefessional which costs £24.50.

89666660925748963551035422

The product is like a clear gel. I was worried at first that it may be to greasy or heavy on my skin, but once I applied it and rubbed it into my skin, it felt lightweight and left a smooth finish. I used a minimal amount and found it works more effectively when pressed into skin properly. I only use the gel on areas where I notice pores rather than on my whole face. I really like the product and it really worked well under my make up. Hours later my skin remained matte and smooth so I’m so pleased I tried this first. That is not to say Benefit is not worth trying but for now I am really happy with the results of the Baby Skin Pore Eraser and is an excellent solution to blurring and hiding your pores!
