NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks + My Little Trick To Help Lipstick Stay On Longer

NYX Cosmetics have a wonderful range of Lipsticks at amazing prices as they are all under £10. I love how affordable the brand is and also the array of colours you can choose from. I always prefer Matte Lipsticks, and the NYX Matte Lipstick range is priced at £6.50. Despite being matte, the lipstick formula does not dry lips out and are highly pigmented so does not require reapplication very often.

Naturally however, after eating and drinking lipstick starts to fade so I do a little trick to make my lipstick stay on longer. I have written a post before about Gosh Velvet Touch Prime n’Set Primer and Mattifying Setting Powder

Collection Lipstick Shade China Rose – Great For Warm Skin Tones

I love finding brown nude lipsticks that actually suit my skin tone and I love it even better when it only costs £2.99! The Lipstick I’m talking about is from Collection’s Lasting Colour Lipstick range in Shade 9 China Rose.

The colour is a warm brown but has a soft pink undertone. It has a high shine glossy finish so lips look and feel hydrated which is particularly useful for me as my lips tend to dry out a lot usually. Despite it being a nude shade, the pink undertone it has means it stands out more and makes lips look more vibrant.

I love using this lipstick when I have heavier eye make up as it compliments it, but is also great to use for everyday wear as it is not an overpowering colour. Another way I use this shade is I blend the China Rose lipstick with a red lipstick I have as the brown shade helps tone down the red a little more. I love the Collection range so I am looking forward to trying more shades, but this is a great lipstick as its long lasting and glossy and this shade works really well with my skin tone.

Benefit Do The Hoola Bronzer Gift Set

I received this lovely kit  as a gift so thought I would review it as it contains some wonderful products. The first thing I love about the set is that it comes with a mirror and is very compact so you can easily do your make up anywhere. The set includes, Benefit They’re Real! Mascara, Benefit Benebalm, Benefit Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer, Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder and a Benefit Hoola Ultra Plush Lip gloss. The kit also includes cards with tips to help you understand how to use each product which is really helpful.

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

What I love about this Mascara is that it really separates lashes which gives a really voluminous look. The wand enables you to apply mascara horizontally and vertically since the tip is specially designed to lengthen the lashes vertically. The mascara is smudge proof which is great and does not flake throughout the day the only thing is you need a good make up remover after.

Benefit Benebalm

This lip balm is really moisturizing and has a lovely fruity scent as it is enriched with mango butter. It has a rose tint which I love as I can wear this on my lips on its own without lipstick. My lips feel hydrated and nourished while wearing this balm and the packaging is really vibrant and pretty.

Benefit Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer

The texture of this bronzer is really lightweight however, it was pretty much the same colour as my skin so it isn’t suitable for medium to dark skin. I do recommend it for those with lighter skin though, as it contains no glitter and is very matte so would work as a great contour.

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder

Again this powder is the same colour as my skin so I can’t really comment on the powder as I don’t use it. This powder came with a small brush however, and I really love it as I use this brush to contour my face with my sleek contour kit. The brush is really soft and is ideal to use for contouring as it helps blend the product easily into skin.

Benefit Hoola Ultra Plush Lipgloss

I hate the sticky texture lip gloss has but this lip gloss pleasantly surprised me as it was a nice texture. The application is shaped so you use only as much you need and can easily apply over lips. It contains a small gold shimmer which looks pretty and brings a shine to lips. I use this on top of lipstick for a nice glossy finish.

Although some products are not suitable for my skin tone, I loved a lot of the other products the gift set contained and the packaging is wonderful so would make a lovely gift for someone this Christmas.

Mac Satin Lipstick Retro- Perfect for Indian Skin

I tend to buy Lipstick colours that are brighter shades so I wanted to pick a warm deeper shade for my next purchase. I decided to try the shade Retro from the Mac Satin Lipstick range.

M3EW30

I picked this colour because I wanted a peachy brown shade and this lipstick fit what I was looking for perfectly. The warmth of the shade made my lips stand out and complimented my skin tone as it made my skin look brighter instead of making me look washed out as some dark lipsticks do.

It is a really pigmented lipstick so I only needed to apply over my lips once, but it did tend to fade after about 4 hours and then needs reapplication if you eat or drink while wearing it.

My lips felt a little dry so I prefer wearing lip balm underneath, therefore I personally did not find the quality of this lipstick to be that great. However, I adore the shade and this colour is really hard to find so for that reason alone I would purchase this lipstick again.

I was in New York when I bought this so I purchased it at a MAC counter at Macy’s for $17. It is available online in the UK for £15.50 at MAC.

Kiko Velvet Mat-Satin Lipstick- Shade 612 Strawberry Pink (Great for Indian skin)

I really wanted to look for a nice subtle pink lipstick for daytime wear and since I adore Kiko Makeup, I picked up the shade 612 from Kiko’s Velvet Mat Satin range.

20151114_1412561447622257035

This shade is a lovely soft colour and compliments warmer skin tones. It is really perfect for everyday wear, it looks natural but is still noticeable and pretty. This is a mat lipstick which I prefer but the velvet satin texture keeps my lips moisturised and does not dry my lips out. The packaging is really high end looking with its beautiful gold colour, and can be closed securely so it doesn’t open randomly in my handbag.

20151114_14124820151114_141238

The lipstick contains anti ageing ingredients so is good for your lips and keeps them healthy and youthful. I have small lips, and this shade of pink makes my lips look more bigger and fuller. I highly recommend this lipstick as it looks great with my Indian skin tone without leaving my skin looking washed out. They also have a range of colours for just £6.90 so go ahead and try it out!

Chapped Lips – Lip Balm Reviews

My lips tend to get dry and chapped unfortunately and as the weather gets colder, it gets worse 😦

I exfoliate my lips once a week with sugar and honey which leave my lips feeling soft and smooth. The sugar buffs away dead skin and the honey soothes and softens my lips so I make sure to do this regularly! Alongside this however, I love using lip balms so in this post I’m going to talk about some I have tried, the good and the bad.
Collection Lip Balm Green Apple £1.99
8899736829982
I picked this up randomly as it was on offer. The smell is really refreshing and lovely. It glides on smoothly and feels light. However, it did not leave my my lips feeling moisturised for very long at all so I would not purchase again.

Nivea Lip Care Essential £1.65
8842685644830-1
This balm is unscented but Nivea also have a range of fruit scented ones too. My lips felt very moisturised and protected when I used this however, the texture feels thick and somewhat waxy. Also its very soft so it is hard to apply on lips lightly or evenly. This lip balm is a good one to use at night before bed rather than for daywear but I still feel this lip balm despite the texture, made my chapped lips feel soothed and protected.

Carmex Moisturing Lip Balm Classic £2.69
8845797490718
I really love this lip balm except I’m  not a fan of the smell as it is a bit strong. It is really effective on my chapped lips and I really noticed that since using this lip balm, the condition of my lips improved considerably. The texture is light while still feeling moisturising and makes a good base for matte lipstick and makes lips shine. It is one of my favourites and I highly recommend it.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm £1.89
8843906318366-1
This lip balm smells lovely and is another favourite of mine. The texture is nice and I do not need to reapply very often. My lips feel hydrated for hours and it works well with lipstick without feeling heavy. I use this regularly and the applicator is a nice shape so  product can be applied evenly.

Burts Bees Beeswax Lip balm £3.60
Burt_s_Bees_Beeswax_Lip_Balm_Tube_4_25g_1366212818_main
This balm contains oils and vitamins so your lips feel nourished and healthy. My lips are really soft and hydrated when I use this balm and it lasts a few hours without needing to be reapplied. I’m really glad I found this lip balm because my lips feel more repaired and the texture is smooth and glides on easily.

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm £2.99
8893063200798
This lip balm is wonderful. It’s very moisturising and lasts ages. This is another balm where I have noticed a real difference to my lips as it feels softer naturally after using it for a month. The lip balm has SPF20 protection so is also perfect for sunny weather too. It’s a really nourishing and softening balm and the texture is so light and nice to wear. This is my current favourite and a must buy!

All these products are available at Boots and Superdrug.
Have a lovely weekend 😀

Affordable Nude Lipstick great for Indian/Medium/Dark Skin

I love the MUA range at Superdrug since it’s so affordable but great still quality. I tried a lipstick from the range and the colour really suited my skin. It is hard to find good nude lipsticks so this shade was a great find. I think the brown undertone in the lipstick is why it blended with my skin tone so well. The colour is Shade 11 and costs only £1.

MUA SHADE 11

This is a great colour and does not wash out darker skin tones which is ideal. It’s a mild nude shade which is perfect for everyday wear or you can perfectly balance the subtle lip colour with heavy evening wear make up. This shade is also nice because it makes my small lips appear bigger which is always a plus point. So go ahead and try it out!

Great Lipsticks for Indian, Olive, Medium and Dark Skintones

The make up item I find the most difficult to buy are lipsticks! I always find shades to be too dark or too light on my indian skin so I’m constantly changing brands in hope of finding my perfect match. So while I’m continuously going through trial and error, the good thing is I find some great ones so here are my top lipsticks picks for Medium to Dark skin.

MAC Cosmetics (Taupe) £15.50
 MAC Lipstick

This lipstick is a beautiful warm shade and is an ideal nude lipstick for those with a medium or olive skin tone. I love it because the texture is Matte and I prefer this to shiny or glossy lipsticks since those ones sometimes make my skin look washed out. The lipstick lasts very long so I don’t have to constantly reapply and is one of my favourite nude shades.

Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll Kiss and Blush (Shade 10 Nude Insolent) £28.50
YSL

This one is interesting since its designed for both lips and cheeks but I only use it on lips. This is another warm nude shade ideal for medium and dark skin tones. I like its versatility as it Is very buildable. I can apply it lightly to give myself a soft and natural daytime look but can apply more heavily for an intense and sultry evening wear look (it would look great with a Smokey eye look). The applicator is nice and easy to use as the colour glides effortlessly onto lips and provide a matte finish.

KIKO LIPSTICKS
Kiko-Unlimited-Stylo-600-2

Kiko Unlimited Stylo (Shade 13 Cocoa) £6.90
1443100536856
This is a perfect matte lipstick and a great nude shade for medium and dark skin. It’s the best affordable nude shade from my list and I highly recommend it. I wasn’t sure if it would be too dark but it is a nice subtle pink with a brown undertone. It really lasted all day with no need to reapply. I sometimes have dry lips but the texture is really soft and creamy so my lips felt moisturised and smooth. It is also  hypoallergenic and paraben free so another plus point.

Kiko Unlimited Stylo (Shade 02 Pearly Vintage Rose) £6.90
1443100515900
I was looking for an everyday subtle pink shade and this lipstick fits the criteria perfectly. As mentioned above, the texture is creamy and soft whilst still providing a semi matte finish. It is a soft pink colour that contrasts beautifully with warmer skin tones. It’s ideal for day wear and looks pretty and natural but still remains vibrant and noticeable.

00_SMART_LIPSTICK_001443100786806

Kiko Smart Lipstick (Shade 912 Crimson Red) £3.90
I picked this colour for when I want to be a bit more daring and want my lipstick to be the focus point of my look. It is vibrant but I have to say it’s more pink than red. It stood out a lot on my skin and I am normally hesistant about picking strong colours. This is because I have small lips so lighter shades make my lips look bigger but this shade despite being a deeper colour, still complimented my features and since it was more pink than red, it made my lips look bigger. This colour is great for day or night and is really affordable at such a great price.

Kiko Smart Lipstick (Shade 913 Rosewood) £3.90
This is a nice casual lipstick for everyday wear. It’s really perfect if you just want a hint of colour for a soft natural look. It is is a good nude shade and leaves lips feeling moisturised.
