Clinique Cheek Pop Shade Berry Pop Review

00When the season changes I like changing my make up so this time I’m starting with my blusher. I prefer deeper shades for colder weather but warmer shades for Spring/Summer. I saw Clinique’s range of Cheek Pop blushers and fell in love with the packaging. The daisy design is so gorgeous and just seems so perfect for the Spring Season. I chose the Shade Berry Pop as it seemed more bold then the other colours so I thought it would work better for deeper skintones.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup

Estee Lauder is a brand which is known for catering to all skin tones. The Double Wear Foundation range for example has over 30 shades ranging from cool, warm to neutral so there is so much to choose from. I felt unsure about the shade to commit to so fortunately Estee Lauder are happy to provide a sample. They used a device that took three photographs of my face to decide on my shade. I was matched to Bronze 5W1 but they did not have it in stock since its a newer shade so they recommended that I tried Henna 4W3.

Today I am writing about 3 products I purchased recently and I’ll start off with the 2 from Kiko which are from its Infinity Eyeshadow range. The eyeshadow colours I picked were shades 262 Mat Green and shade 229 Metalic Golden Camelia.

Mac Satin Lipstick Retro- Perfect for Indian Skin

I tend to buy Lipstick colours that are brighter shades so I wanted to pick a warm deeper shade for my next purchase. I decided to try the shade Retro from the Mac Satin Lipstick range.

M3EW30

I picked this colour because I wanted a peachy brown shade and this lipstick fit what I was looking for perfectly. The warmth of the shade made my lips stand out and complimented my skin tone as it made my skin look brighter instead of making me look washed out as some dark lipsticks do.

It is a really pigmented lipstick so I only needed to apply over my lips once, but it did tend to fade after about 4 hours and then needs reapplication if you eat or drink while wearing it.

My lips felt a little dry so I prefer wearing lip balm underneath, therefore I personally did not find the quality of this lipstick to be that great. However, I adore the shade and this colour is really hard to find so for that reason alone I would purchase this lipstick again.

I was in New York when I bought this so I purchased it at a MAC counter at Macy’s for $17. It is available online in the UK for £15.50 at MAC.

No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara

I’ve written about my favourite Mascara from No7 before in another post. However, recently it was out of stock so I decided to try another mascara from the No7 range instead. I decided on the No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara priced at £12.95 which I purchased from Boots.

Even though I bought this mascara as a temporary one until my usual one (No7 Lash Impact Mascara) was back in stock, I think I have found a new favourite. What I love about this one is that it is very buildable so you can add many coats of the mascara and it still doesn’t clump. It is really light weight and I felt my lashes looked glossy which is because the mascara is enriched with nourishing Argan Oil. Sometimes mascara can weigh down lashes but with this Lovely Lashes Mascara my lashes stayed volumised and looked longer. This mascara is slightly cheaper than the other one I used from the No7 range but the quality is just as good, the only difference I found is the Lash Impact Mascara dries quicker than this one. It is really easy to remove with make up remover and kept my lashes looking volumised all day without flaking or smudging. I highly recommend giving this Mascara a try!

Bellapierre Mineral Foundation Review (Ideal for all skin tones and acne prone skin)

The product I’m going to write about is my ultimate must have. It is called Bellapierre and it is a 5 in 1 Compact Mineral Foundation. The 5 properties the product can be used as are a Concealer, SPF, Foundation, Finishing Powder and Setting Powder. The foundation is great because it is good for your skin since the minerals allow your skin to breathe and also gives great coverage if like me your prone to spots or acne scarring. The product I use is the compact version but it’s also available in a loose powder version. What I love is that it comes with a great colour chart so it’s easier to find a shade that fits every race. My shade is Maple.

Bellapierre colour chart

It’s a little pricey at £39.99 but I find that it lasts long since I tend not to need to reapply since the coverage is so effective. It blends in with my skin colour effortlessly. I occasionally breakout with spots which leave me with acne scarring which I hate. So the way I use this product is that I apply a little powder directly onto the scar first as a concealer. Then I apply the whole foundation over it. It really covers the scarring and blends in very effectively without causing irritation to sensitive skin. I’m always self conscious about acne scars left behind so I love how much coverage I get with this foundation. I’ve found products I have used in the past left a cakey texture or greyish colour but this works well with my skin tone. I have been using this foundation for years and it is my favourite product.

The Bellapierre Compact Mineral Foundation is available direct from the website http://www.bellapierre.co.uk

You can also order it for £34.99  from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk

I’m based in London so it’s available in store at House of Fraser.

No7 Lash Impact Mascara Review

Today I want to write about my favourite Mascara and its one I highly recommend. It is the No7 Lash Impact Mascara which is available in Boots and is priced at £13.50.

The mascara comes in two colours both Brown and Black and with just two coats, it creates an intense volume. I have constantly changed mascara in the past for reasons such as clumping or wearing off too quickly or making my lashes feel heavy. However, I have no such problem with this Mascara. It provides a great amount of volume on my lashes while still feeling weightless. I think the fact that only one or two coats being needed is the reason it feels light which is ideal especially if you are wearing mascara all day. Another thing I love about it, is that it dries quickly so it’s easy to apply even when your in a rush. This is a must buy in my opinion and I think my search for a great Mascara is finally over.

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 hour wear Hydrating Foundation

I have always been nervous with regards to using liquid foundation for two reasons, one is the fact I have oily skin so it was a concern my skin would feel greasy and reason two was about finding a colour that matches, since Indian skin tones are hard to find shades for. However I heard about an oil free foundation from Smashbox so I decided to write about my experience using Smashbox Studio Skin 15 hour wear Hydrating Foundation.

smashbox

I went in store to Boots and I was colour matched to shade 3.2. The product is quite expensive at £29.00 but the size of the bottle is quite good and you only need a pump or 2 which is enough for your whole face. I found the colour looked a little more yellow on my skin than I’d want ideally but it blended in better when I used less of the product for a lighter coverage. The texture is light and did not feel heavy on my skin and set on my skin with a matte finish. The oil control was excellent throughout the day and suited my sensitive and naturally oily skin. I’ve used a brush to apply the foundation before, however I’ve found it blended better when I used my fingers to apply it. I really like this product and I’m glad I tried it. It gives me long lasting coverage and my skin looks hydrated while still remaining oil free.

Beauty UK Eyebrow Kit

Okay so we all know what they say about eyebrows, you know how they’re meant to be sister’s and not twins. Well let’s just say mine are more like distant cousins or maybe not even related at all! Eyebrows make such an impact on the face so they are important so I had to find a solution to make my brows presentable. Thankfully I found it, it’s a wonderful product from Beauty UK called the High Brow Eyebrow Kit. This kit completely transformed my eyebrows. It contains 3 different shades to suit different skin tones, I personally use the darkest shade, and the kit comes with a double ended applicator and tweezers. The applicator is small, one side has a rounded applicator and an angled one at the other end. The length of the applicator might not suit some people so you may want to find a longer one but I personally find it easy to use and find that I am able to apply the powder in precise way without it taking too much time. It also comes with a colourless wax but I’ve found the powder lasts long for me without needing to use the wax.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

I have small eyes so I wanted to find an eyeshadow with a more neutral shade to make my eyes look bigger. I also wanted a more neutral shade for everyday wear for a more subtle and natural look. The issue was that all the shades I came across were far too light on my skin. I looked around and came across the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette.

Urban_Decay_Naked_Basics_Palette_1391690810_main

There were two options. This original palette or the new 2nd edition. I picked the original one as it had more yellow tones which I felt would blend with my skin better whilst still being noticeable. It also had a vastly contrasting black shade which I love for when I do an evening Smokey eye look. The eyeshadows are really long lasting and blend in with each other very effortlessly when incorporating more than one shade on the lid. I add more than one shade to make my eyes appear more open and bigger and I can do this with these tones without it looking heavy or overdone.

The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is priced at £23.00. It’s subtle enough to use daily but still lasts long.
