LA Girl Pro Conceal Orange Correcter- Ideal for uneven skintone for Medium to Dark Skintones

A big issue I suffer from is uneven skin tone particularly around my mouth and under my eyes. Sometimes this causes me to overdo the foundation coverage to try and make everything match up and appear even, but instead makes my skin look cakey and still appear uneven. I heard about correcting red pigmentation with a green corrector and brown pigmentation using Orange so was on the hunt for a colour correcter in Orange. I searched online and found one from LA Girl. What set this apart from other correcters was that the shade of Orange looked deeper than the others so I thought it would suit me better.

When I opened it, it comes with a brush type applicator and you gently squeeze the tube for the product to come out. This is great as it prevents you from being to heavy handed and using too much. It is very pigmented so a little goes a long way and its a lightweight formula so is easy to blend. I used a primer underneath that I wrote about before from Maybelline and this worked well underneath the corrector.

Once blended, the area looks orangey/red as expected but when you layer foundation on top the coverage is perfect. Foundation blends over the correcter without feeling heavy and my skin looks so even now. It also means I use less foundation as I’m not over compensating for the fact that I need to even out the skin tone, since the corrector does this for me now.
This is a must buy for those with uneven skin tone. Since the Orange is deep I would recommend it to those with medium to dark skin. A more peach or light orange corrector would suit lighter skin better. If your skin tone is lighter I would suggest the NYX Dark Circle Concealer which comes in 4 different orange shades.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick- Ideal for Light, Medium and Dark Skintones

I heard great things about Bobbi Brown particularly about how the brand caters for so many skin tones. I love using my current foundation which I’ve written a post about before from Smashbox, but thought I would try something new. I decided to go with the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick.

I have only used liquid or powder foundation in the past so this is like something in between which seemed interesting and also it comes in 24 shades which is great. I was tested with 4 shades applied to my skin. I was undecided between two shades but was advised to go for shade 5.5 in Warm Honey. Unfortunately, once I tried it at home with day light as opposed to store light, it looked a little too dark for me and had a somewhat Orange/Brown undertone. However, my skin is slightly uneven in tone so I decided to use both foundations that I had. I used Bobbi Brown on darker areas like around my mouth and chin and as a contour on my cheeks and forehead and applied Smashbox Foundation everywhere else. This worked great and the shades of both foundations blended seamlessly.

I like the texture of the Bobbi Brown Stick. It is smooth and lightweight and the product is buildable without leaving a cakey texture. Another thing I love about the stick is that it can be used as a concealer for small areas like on blemishes or under the eye aswell as a foundation for full coverage. The creamy texture leaves a smooth finish and despite my oily skin type, I do not feel like my skin feels heavy or greasy after application. If you have very oily skin however, I would advise using a finishing powder to complete the look.

The foundation is so compact that you can just pop in your hand bag and touch up your make up wherever you are which is so handy. I definitely recommend this foundation, it’s priced at £29.50 but I know for sure this product will last long as only a few strokes of the product on your face is required for full coverage.

Bellapierre Mineral Foundation Review (Ideal for all skin tones and acne prone skin)

The product I’m going to write about is my ultimate must have. It is called Bellapierre and it is a 5 in 1 Compact Mineral Foundation. The 5 properties the product can be used as are a Concealer, SPF, Foundation, Finishing Powder and Setting Powder. The foundation is great because it is good for your skin since the minerals allow your skin to breathe and also gives great coverage if like me your prone to spots or acne scarring. The product I use is the compact version but it’s also available in a loose powder version. What I love is that it comes with a great colour chart so it’s easier to find a shade that fits every race. My shade is Maple.

It’s a little pricey at £39.99 but I find that it lasts long since I tend not to need to reapply since the coverage is so effective. It blends in with my skin colour effortlessly. I occasionally breakout with spots which leave me with acne scarring which I hate. So the way I use this product is that I apply a little powder directly onto the scar first as a concealer. Then I apply the whole foundation over it. It really covers the scarring and blends in very effectively without causing irritation to sensitive skin. I’m always self conscious about acne scars left behind so I love how much coverage I get with this foundation. I’ve found products I have used in the past left a cakey texture or greyish colour but this works well with my skin tone. I have been using this foundation for years and it is my favourite product.

The Bellapierre Compact Mineral Foundation is available direct from the website http://www.bellapierre.co.uk

You can also order it for £34.99  from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk

I’m based in London so it’s available in store at House of Fraser.
