My Everyday Make Up Look
It’s been a while since I’ve posted so this post is about my everyday make up routine at the moment. Ideal for deeper south Indian skin tones.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted so this post is about my everyday make up routine at the moment. Ideal for deeper south Indian skin tones.
00When the season changes I like changing my make up so this time I’m starting with my blusher. I prefer deeper shades for colder weather but warmer shades for Spring/Summer. I saw Clinique’s range of Cheek Pop blushers and fell in love with the packaging. The daisy design is so gorgeous and just seems so perfect for the Spring Season. I chose the Shade Berry Pop as it seemed more bold then the other colours so I thought it would work better for deeper skintones.
Estee Lauder is a brand which is known for catering to all skin tones. The Double Wear Foundation range for example has over 30 shades ranging from cool, warm to neutral so there is so much to choose from. I felt unsure about the shade to commit to so fortunately Estee Lauder are happy to provide a sample. They used a device that took three photographs of my face to decide on my shade. I was matched to Bronze 5W1 but they did not have it in stock since its a newer shade so they recommended that I tried Henna 4W3.
I’ve written posts about Kiko products before as I just love this brand so much. They have such a variety of products at such great prices. Today I am writing about 3 products I purchased recently and I’ll start off with the 2 from Kiko which are from its Infinity Eyeshadow range. The eyeshadow colours I picked were shades 262 Mat Green and shade 229 Metalic Golden Camelia.
NYX Cosmetics have a wonderful range of Lipsticks at amazing prices as they are all under £10. I love how affordable the brand is and also the array of colours you can choose from. I always prefer Matte Lipsticks, and the NYX Matte Lipstick range is priced at £6.50. Despite being matte, the lipstick formula does not dry lips out and are highly pigmented so does not require reapplication very often.
With Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I would write a post on my favourite perfumes. I tend to stick with a perfume for long periods of time before changing to a new one, so not all the perfumes are new. The perfumes listed are just my long time favourites! I love softer floral scents so this list is ideal for those of you who prefer a subtle perfume rather than a perfume with a really strong intense scent.
I’ve mentioned before my go to kit for eyebrows which can viewed here however, recently I completely ran out and needed to buy one immediately. I could not find the Beauty UK kit anywhere and could not wait to order it online so decided to try an alternative. Since I love the range of products from Collection I went for the Eye Brow Kit I saw on promotion in store.
They have two palettes, one for blondes and another for brunettes so I picked the brunette palette. Two significant plus points about this kit compared to my usual one is that it has a small mirror which is ideal when you are in a rush, the other is the amazing eye brow gel that is included. The eye brow gel applicator looks like a mascara brush and the gel is clear. The texture is not too thick so feels lightweight and does not move the powder product from eye brows. I use the darkest shade in the palette and the powder texture is smooth and looks like eye shadow but is far more longer lasting. The gel really helps keep the brow powder in place and I do not need to reapply again all day! The eye brow applicator comes with a flat end and an angled end. I personally like using my old applicator just because I’m used to it. The other colours are nice to use as eyeshadow when I want to create a neutral look or as part of a subtle smokey eye look. Just so you know the difference:
I love finding brown nude lipsticks that actually suit my skin tone and I love it even better when it only costs £2.99! The Lipstick I’m talking about is from Collection’s Lasting Colour Lipstick range in Shade 9 China Rose.
The colour is a warm brown but has a soft pink undertone. It has a high shine glossy finish so lips look and feel hydrated which is particularly useful for me as my lips tend to dry out a lot usually. Despite it being a nude shade, the pink undertone it has means it stands out more and makes lips look more vibrant.
I love using this lipstick when I have heavier eye make up as it compliments it, but is also great to use for everyday wear as it is not an overpowering colour. Another way I use this shade is I blend the China Rose lipstick with a red lipstick I have as the brown shade helps tone down the red a little more. I love the Collection range so I am looking forward to trying more shades, but this is a great lipstick as its long lasting and glossy and this shade works really well with my skin tone.
Lately my hair has been especially dry, this is probably made worse by the cold windy weather so I felt like I needed some treatment to revive my hair back to health. I came across a hair mask from Kiehl’s called Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak which I bought while on holiday in New York but is thankfully available here in the UK aswell. The mask is a good size and contains lots of lovely things like Antioxidant Rich Sunflower, Apricot Oils and Vitamins B3, B5 and B6. It is also silicone and paraben free.
I received this lovely kit as a gift so thought I would review it as it contains some wonderful products. The first thing I love about the set is that it comes with a mirror and is very compact so you can easily do your make up anywhere. The set includes, Benefit They’re Real! Mascara, Benefit Benebalm, Benefit Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer, Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder and a Benefit Hoola Ultra Plush Lip gloss. The kit also includes cards with tips to help you understand how to use each product which is really helpful.
Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
What I love about this Mascara is that it really separates lashes which gives a really voluminous look. The wand enables you to apply mascara horizontally and vertically since the tip is specially designed to lengthen the lashes vertically. The mascara is smudge proof which is great and does not flake throughout the day the only thing is you need a good make up remover after.
Benefit Benebalm
This lip balm is really moisturizing and has a lovely fruity scent as it is enriched with mango butter. It has a rose tint which I love as I can wear this on my lips on its own without lipstick. My lips feel hydrated and nourished while wearing this balm and the packaging is really vibrant and pretty.
Benefit Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer
The texture of this bronzer is really lightweight however, it was pretty much the same colour as my skin so it isn’t suitable for medium to dark skin. I do recommend it for those with lighter skin though, as it contains no glitter and is very matte so would work as a great contour.
Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
Again this powder is the same colour as my skin so I can’t really comment on the powder as I don’t use it. This powder came with a small brush however, and I really love it as I use this brush to contour my face with my sleek contour kit. The brush is really soft and is ideal to use for contouring as it helps blend the product easily into skin.
Benefit Hoola Ultra Plush Lipgloss
I hate the sticky texture lip gloss has but this lip gloss pleasantly surprised me as it was a nice texture. The application is shaped so you use only as much you need and can easily apply over lips. It contains a small gold shimmer which looks pretty and brings a shine to lips. I use this on top of lipstick for a nice glossy finish.
Although some products are not suitable for my skin tone, I loved a lot of the other products the gift set contained and the packaging is wonderful so would make a lovely gift for someone this Christmas.
I tend to buy Lipstick colours that are brighter shades so I wanted to pick a warm deeper shade for my next purchase. I decided to try the shade Retro from the Mac Satin Lipstick range.
I picked this colour because I wanted a peachy brown shade and this lipstick fit what I was looking for perfectly. The warmth of the shade made my lips stand out and complimented my skin tone as it made my skin look brighter instead of making me look washed out as some dark lipsticks do.
It is a really pigmented lipstick so I only needed to apply over my lips once, but it did tend to fade after about 4 hours and then needs reapplication if you eat or drink while wearing it.
My lips felt a little dry so I prefer wearing lip balm underneath, therefore I personally did not find the quality of this lipstick to be that great. However, I adore the shade and this colour is really hard to find so for that reason alone I would purchase this lipstick again.
I was in New York when I bought this so I purchased it at a MAC counter at Macy’s for $17. It is available online in the UK for £15.50 at MAC.
I’ve written about my favourite Mascara from No7 before in another post. However, recently it was out of stock so I decided to try another mascara from the No7 range instead. I decided on the No7 Lovely Lashes Mascara priced at £12.95 which I purchased from Boots.
Even though I bought this mascara as a temporary one until my usual one (No7 Lash Impact Mascara) was back in stock, I think I have found a new favourite. What I love about this one is that it is very buildable so you can add many coats of the mascara and it still doesn’t clump. It is really light weight and I felt my lashes looked glossy which is because the mascara is enriched with nourishing Argan Oil. Sometimes mascara can weigh down lashes but with this Lovely Lashes Mascara my lashes stayed volumised and looked longer. This mascara is slightly cheaper than the other one I used from the No7 range but the quality is just as good, the only difference I found is the Lash Impact Mascara dries quicker than this one. It is really easy to remove with make up remover and kept my lashes looking volumised all day without flaking or smudging. I highly recommend giving this Mascara a try!
Available at Boots
I really wanted to look for a nice subtle pink lipstick for daytime wear and since I adore Kiko Makeup, I picked up the shade 612 from Kiko’s Velvet Mat Satin range.
This shade is a lovely soft colour and compliments warmer skin tones. It is really perfect for everyday wear, it looks natural but is still noticeable and pretty. This is a mat lipstick which I prefer but the velvet satin texture keeps my lips moisturised and does not dry my lips out. The packaging is really high end looking with its beautiful gold colour, and can be closed securely so it doesn’t open randomly in my handbag.
The lipstick contains anti ageing ingredients so is good for your lips and keeps them healthy and youthful. I have small lips, and this shade of pink makes my lips look more bigger and fuller. I highly recommend this lipstick as it looks great with my Indian skin tone without leaving my skin looking washed out. They also have a range of colours for just £6.90 so go ahead and try it out!
