Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup

Estee Lauder is a brand which is known for catering to all skin tones. The Double Wear Foundation range for example has over 30 shades ranging from cool, warm to neutral so there is so much to choose from. I felt unsure about the shade to commit to so fortunately Estee Lauder are happy to provide a sample. They used a device that took three photographs of my face to decide on my shade. I was matched to Bronze 5W1 but they did not have it in stock since its a newer shade so they recommended that I tried Henna 4W3.

When I applied it, the first thing I noticed is how instantly it blended into my skin and left a matte finish. Foundations I have used in the past take a few minutes to dry and set, however this one set straight away. The coverage is medium but buildable. I have some pigmentation so I add another layer but the coverage is really good and still feels lightweight. After applying the second layer, the foundation left no residue and my skin felt like I had no make up on. This is particularly great for those with oily skin since it is a really mattifying and leaves a seamless finish.

Another wonderful quality this foundation has is that it does not transfer and actually stays in place just like it states. Most foundations make this claim but this one actually does. Despite my oily skin type, this foundation does not transfer and I did not need to reapply all day.

Now as I mentioned, I tried a different colour than I was matched too. I actually thought this shade was better than a shade darker would’ve been so I’m glad I did not try the shade I was matched to originally. A problem I tend to have with foundations because of my oily skin, is that it oxidises later in the day and leaves my skin looking darker and slightly orange. This shade was not too bad since I only noticed this happening on my cheek whereas usually it happens all over my face. I usually solve this by applying my Bellepierre Matte foundation powder on top.

When I went back to the Estee Lauder counter, I was happy to purchase this shade but mentioned the oxidization issue I get. They suggested I try a neutral shade instead and I was matched to shade Spiced Sand 4N2. I was afraid it would be too light but after applying it, it really blended well and worked on my skin. After a few hours I noticed no oxidization and it stayed a neutral skin colour. I found that if like me your foundation oxidizes, then a good solution is to buy a shade or two up and look for a neutral shade. I usually find the process of searching for a shade that matches to be a nightmare but I highly recommend Estee Lauder, as I love how willing they were to show me alternative shades since some make up counters try and pressure you into picking one shade.

This foundation is a fantastic buy that I highly recommend since there is something for every shade and every skin type! The most negative thing you’ll hear is that the bottle does not come with a pump but you can buy a pump from Mac which fits apparently so I have ordered one and will let you know if it works.

Late to the party but I love DW! A little goes a long way so it’s not as pricy as it seems. Tried the original DW but when you’re extremely pale it doesn’t look as nice as it does on others (i.e. my friend is darker and it looks flawless on her, patchy on me). So I use the DW light, it still gives good coverage!

I love Estée Lauder Double Wear too, it’s one of my HG foundations 😍 The pump from MAC fits perfectly 😊 EL should start making it with the pump though, especially for the price it should have one!

Oh I’m glad to know it definitely fits. And I totally agree, I love the foundation but since its a glass bottle a pump would be useful, but thank goodness for the Mac pump 🙂
